In your own words, what is Suburban Nightmare about?<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Richard Halpern: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/reveel.net\/programs\/1303805\/suburban-nightmare?utm_source=blog.reveel.net&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=blog&amp;utm_term=suburban-nightmare-interview&amp;utm_content=in-text&amp;utm_brand=RTV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Suburban Nightmare<\/a> is about a family that is living in tough times who feel the need to rent out an extra room in their home for additional income.\u00a0 Unbeknown to them this character is a dangerous stalker who is pursuing their daughter online from afar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><b>2. Is Suburban Nightmare inspired by any real-life stories?<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Richard Halpern:<\/strong> Yes.\u00a0 There have been many stories of death and violence that have occured in rental share communities. If you google Airbnb murder you will see what I mean. It\u2019s also inspired by a situation that happened to me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I rented an Airbnb in San Diego in a million dollar home and the family had a young mother and father with two toddler daughters.\u00a0 They gave me free access to their home andI was stunned any reasonable parent would allow this. This moment inspired this movie.<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><b>3. What do you want viewers to take away from the film? Is it just a cautionary tale?<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Richard Halpern:<\/strong> First as always is to be entertained.\u00a0 Thrilled.\u00a0 Held in suspense.\u00a0 While also questioning how the gig sharing economy can be potentially dangerous.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><b>4. How did you decide on THAT ending?<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Richard Halpern:<\/strong> I am inspired by great 70s grindhouse movies that do not have optimistic endings.\u00a0 Like Texas chainsaw massacre or Last House on the Left.\u00a0 I like to be different.\u00a0 Unpredictable.\u00a0 Dark.\u00a0 Also setting up an even more grueling sequel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><b>6. The suburbs often serve as a setting for horror. Why do you think that is?<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Richard Halpern:<\/strong> Because people can relate to it. Connect to it.\u00a0 Most people live their lives in the suburbs.\u00a0 So for them the thriller and realism is close to home.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><b>7. What was your favorite scene or moment to film?<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>\u200b\u200b<strong>Richard Halpern:<\/strong> I loved filming the shed scene with the two leads. It was originally set outside but it was raining hail at night. So we needed to change it up.
