Journey to the Docile Pink Planet(2018)
01h 39m
A privately-funded 1960 expedition to Mars uncovers an unexpected civilization. One similar to that of Earth, but about 55 years further advanced.
This film is a parody/tribute to 1960-era SciFi. It vaguely echoes the plot of “The Angry Red Planet” (1959), but spoofs many other works as well. There are about 100 references to various films, TV series, comic books, children’s literature, etc. The real film trailers on the front end (public domain by definition) help the viewer know that this is in fact a parody and that the plot, pacing, acting, logic and special effects are all cheesy on purpose. The NASA footage in the film is explicitly copyright-repudiated and is available for free use.
