The Household(2025)

The Household begins as a found-footage documentary, a passion project for aspiring filmmakers Patrick and Sarah, as they investigate the gruesome, unsolved "Household" murders in Adelaide, Australia. Their research, starting with online forums and interviews, quickly spirals into a terrifying personal ordeal as they uncover a complex web of conspiracy theories, suggesting a powerful secret society, police corruption, and unsettling occult practices. They find connections to a local businessman and a former detective with a hidden agenda. As they delve deeper, Patrick and Sarah become targets of escalating intimidation tactics, including surveillance, home invasions, and attempts to discredit them, realising not all is as it seems with the officially charged killer. The investigation shifts from a quest for answers to a fight for survival as paranoia and fear take hold. Patrick's determination to finish the film leads to increasingly reckless choices, culminating in a brutal confrontation where the lines between their documentary and real life irrevocably collapse.
