Freely inspired by "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," LAPLACIANUS is a film about Bayes' Theorem, written and directed by Gianluca Testa. Through a black hole, Prof. Laplacianus finds himself teleported from the television studios of the show Benvenuti a Probabilia (Welcome to Probabilia) into the living room of Alice and Selene, where, thanks to the power of Bayes' Theorem, he solves two enigmas plaguing the girls. The first concerns the fear of a serious illness following a positive medical test result. The second is a murder accusation that Alice faces from the local Public Prosecutor during a dreamlike journey into the parallel world of Naivia. In the world of Naivia, the bizarre inhabitants tend to make illogical decisions, guided by the fallacy of the transposed conditional. Here Alice meets Okkiola, an "enlightened" naivula who tells her about Russell's inductive turkey and Taleb's Black Swan. Okkiola recommends the help of the sorcerer Laplacianus: the only one capable of solving all her problems. Once she returns to her world, he will teach her that the incredible theorem used is not just about algorithms, but about real life. Discovering and identifying the causes of what happens is what humanity has always aspired to achieve salvation and well-being and to operate effectively in the world.
