Waiting for Mamu(2013)
40m
In parts of the world, children whose parents are imprisoned and who have no one else to care for them are forced to live behind bars as well. Waiting for Mamu is a powerful and deeply moving documentary that explores what it means for a child to grow up in prison and what hope can be offered for a better future.
The film follows internationally acclaimed social worker Pushpa Basnet—founder of a pioneering development center in Nepal and recipient of the 2012 CNN Hero of the Year award—as she works tirelessly to provide freedom, safety, and education for these forgotten children.
Executive produced by Academy Award–winner Susan Sarandon and filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, this documentary shines a light on resilience, compassion, and the transformative impact of one woman’s vision.
