A lot of horror is rooted in mystery. The more questions we have, the more dangerous the situation could be. There are many times in horror where mystery leads to fear and fear leads to absolute mayhem. Our “Mystery & Mayhem”  playlist puts together the best films that are full of mystery, horror, and mayhem. Here is a breakdown of every film in the playlist.

The Routine (Short Film)

Tara Price is the director, writer, and the main actress in the short film The Routine, giving an amazing yet chilling performance throughout the film. The Routine is not your typical horror. There aren’t jump scares or evil entities, but the film is still able to send a chill down your spine. The synopsis for The Routine reads: The future is here and with everything just a click away we no longer need to even leave our homes. Perhaps it’s bliss for some, but for others, our reliance on modern technology may have dire consequences.

Knock, Knock (Short Film)

This short film tells a story about the dangers of playing video games online. Cesar is a typical teenage boy that loves his video games more than anything. His dad is constantly pressing him to make real friends, but he is more than content with gaming online.

Margaret (Short Film)

Margaret is the latest of Periklis Tsintza’s engaging shorts to be added to the platform. The film is about a mother who hires a nanny to take care of her son who suffers from a special disease. Her job is difficult but also dangerous. Margaret is a short film that will have you at the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

Judging TreeJudging Tree (Short Film)

In the vein of Tsintzas other films, this short film is a mystical thriller with plenty of twists and intriguing characters. Judging Tree is about a former prisoner whose financial problems strain his relationship with his girlfriend. When the young man hears about a strange myth about the village he lives in, he takes matters into his own hands and his actions have drastic consequences.

Guesthouse (Short Film)

Need a good mystery? The Guesthouse is a mystery thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end. The film is about a mother and his son who after being lost on a road trip end up in a guesthouse in which they spend the night, but there is a dark secret waiting for them inside. This film takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions as you are trying to figure out what exactly is going on.

Remote (Short Film)

Remote is a short film created by the same filmmaker who directed Hang Up!, Marc Roussel. This sci-fi horror film has a unique premise that is both creepy and intriguing. Remote is about a man who becomes temporarily connected in time with a woman through his TV and tries to prevent the murder of a young woman living in his house 30 years in the past. Marc Roussel delivers a film that is both mind-bending, intriguing, and downright terrifying.

The Cure (Short Film)

Apocalyptic films have always caught the attention of audiences and The Cure is no different. This short film is about a young girl with the fate of the world in her hands is forced to make an impossible decision. The film is an intense roller coaster told in only 3-minutes.

Twenty Twenty (Short Film)

Dave Slade faces a myriad of internal and external struggles in trying to figure out what’s real or surreal. He encounters the threatening presence of Terranova, a huge woman who claims she’s from the future, and he experiences terrible nightmares that illuminate this dilemma she presents to him along with a Mystery Woman. His Landlord, Mary Lee, is a positive presence who helps him waddle through the murky waters of his polluted mind as Old Man mysteriously guides him to his destiny.
