There’s a reason that the Fast and Furious franchise has gone on for more than a decade. We just can’t get enough of car chases and of course, Vin Diesel’s lines about family. The Longest Run (2022) doesn’t have recurring themes about family or Vin Diesel, but it does have exciting car chase scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat.
As a bonus, the story is told from a unique perspective: we follow two rival getaway drivers that settle the score on the open road. If you’re looking for a movie with car action scenes, The Longest Run may be a great choice for you. Here are five reasons why!

The Longest Run begins with two rival getaway drivers each in the middle of a heart-pounding police car chase. As the story progresses, their rivalry only gets more intense and thrilling. It all leads to a huge showdown at the end of the movie that releases a bunch of built-up tension.
On a low budget, car chases can be difficult to film. The Longest Run is an independent film that was able to create convincing and exciting car action scenes while still keeping the budget low. It’s a great example of how filmmakers can make a convincing film with limited resources.
Almost every character in The Longest Run is a criminal. The characters are deeply flawed and yet we find a way to understand them. Our main character, Deke, is an outlaw with a code. He may be willing to break the law but he also has a heart… deep down somewhere.
There are many similarities to other films with getaway drivers, such as Drive or Baby Driver. All three films start with a getaway driver in the middle of a job and getting chased by police. There are also familiar shots during car chase scenes and even some of the same stunts.
