Reveel is back with another lineup of seven great films to watch. This week’s selection is full of comedies of all types; dark comedy, romantic comedy, and faith-based comedy. There are also two thrillers, one a proof of concept for a feature film and the other inspired by film noir. And last but not least, there is a heartwarming drama about two estranged brothers who reconnect. Here are the seven new films added to Reveel this week: a feature film and 6 short films.

1. Miss Barton’s Famous Cakes (Short Film)
Film noir is a classic and loved genre, and this film noir-inspired short film is a great example of why. Miss Barton’s Famous Cakes is a mystery/thriller about two detectives who come knocking on Miss Barton’s door to discuss dark matters surrounding her world-famous cakes. The short film manages to have comedy, drama, mystery, and suspense.

2. Distractions (Short Film)
Director Megan Caudill has added many films to Reveel. Her family-oriented films have a special quality to them that is hard to find elsewhere. This film, Distractions, is about a woman named Kristin who wants to enjoy her day off when it keeps getting interrupted. What actions will she take to achieve her blissful alone time…and at what price?

3. Good & Faithful (Short Film)
This faith-based comedy is a great film for anyone looking for a light-hearted experience. The film follows a young woman who after suffering a devasting loss is guided to the peace of God by a Guardian Angel. The short film is full of laughs and heart.

4. Fugitive Zero (Proof-of-Concept)
Are people capable of change? This is the question addressed in Fugitive Zero. The short film is a proof of concept for a feature film and works like an opening scene out of a full-length film. Fugitive Zero is about an escaped convict who discovers he’s taking part in a live simulation where every moral decision determines his eligibility for parole. Think of it like The Truman Show meets The Fugitive.

5. Summer (Short Film)
Discovering skeletons in your father’s closet is always awkward. It’s even more awkward when you find out your father’s secrets after he has passed. This short film is about two siblings who overcome conflicted feelings about their recently passed father while disposing of the skeleton in his closet. Summer is a hilarious short film with a great cast.

6. She’s Out of His Mind (Feature Film)
This romantic comedy has gotten great reviews because of its witty dialogue and captivating performances. Directed by Emmett Loverde, the feature film is about a young man the night before the wedding of his old flame when he is magically visited by every woman he has ever loved and lost. She’s Out of His Mind is a worthwhile comedy with a relatable message.

7. The Elusive Man (Short Film)
This ambitious, bloody and darkly comedic revenge fantasy from the award-winning directing team of Mark Sanders and Marc Roussel is an ever-expanding spiral of violence, betrayal, and lies. The film is about a man whose life turns upside-down when what seems like an ordinary day turns into a life-and-death confrontation with a ruthless band of international art thieves who invade his office, chop off one of his ears, and demand that he divulge the whereabouts of a certain “Elusive Man”.
