In the vast sea of negative stories created by the media, it can be easy to forget that there is still good in the world. Green Renaissance films are here to offer a little light in the darkness – through positive, inspiring stories about people and the planet. In their own words, the world is full of people with amazing stories and the goal of Green Renaissance is to share as many of them as possible. “Heaven on Earth” is a popular Green Renaissance short film that is now available to watch on Reveel. So, who or what exactly is Green Renaissance?
What is Green Renaissance?
Green Renaissance is a production company made up of four creatives – an editor, producer, cinematographer, and director. Each on a journey to make a living solely off of creating positive films that they are passionate about. Their films are meant to appreciate the true beauty in the world which can range from meeting people with interesting stories to being inspired by nature itself. The filmmakers use the bare minimum to create their videos and try to stay eco-friendly with each new film.

The Mission of Green Renaissance Films
The overall mission of Green Renaissance is to try and inspire change in people all over the world through their films. The films explore what it means to be human and bring things back to what’s important in life. Nature is a common theme in Green Renaissance films as the team feels that it is essential for humans to have a connection with nature throughout life. In an interview with Oasis, Michael (Cinematographer from Green Renaissance) shared that he believed nature speaks to the soul and that filming nature and sharing people’s stories on what nature has done for them was a way of Green Renaissance giving back.
“We’ve always said that if each film touches just one person, fills them with a bit more hope, or leaves them feeling more inspired, then it has achieved its goal.”
The Green Renaissance Film About Gratitude
Green Renaissance released the short film “Heaven on Earth” that follows Michael Canfield as he reflects and gives thanks for the life he has been given. The film begins with Michael talking about who he sees looking in the mirror.
“On good days, I look in the mirror and see a wisened old patriarch. Who shows all the experience of his life and owns it. And still has crinkles of joy around his eyes. Other days I look in the mirror and I go, oh boy… Who is this old guy looking at me in the mirror? It looks like Keith Richards!”
People assume that if someone is expressing thanks, it’s because their life is easy and they have nothing to complain about. However, this is hardly true. Most of the people that show gratitude for their life realize that it’s how you perceive a problem that makes the issue easier to deal with or more difficult.
Practicing gratitude shifts the focus in your life from what you don’t have to what you do, which can do wonders when it comes to seeing the opportunities presented before us every day. This topic of gratitude is exactly what the Heaven on Earth film is about.
Why Gratitude is Important
On top of everything that we have mentioned about gratitude, it is also important to note that gratitude has been scientifically proven to be good for our health! According to Berkeley University, gratitude can help to improve our mental and physical health. Gratitude has been linked with improved sleep quality, lower blood pressure, and a stronger immune system. Additionally, gratitude has been found to increase our overall satisfaction with life and can make us more resilient in the face of stress. As evident by Heaven on Earth and scientific studies, gratitude is not only good for the soul but good for the body as well.
